This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, September 17th 2009.

On the 13th, a female HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen in Grand Marais, Cook
County, in the bay near the Lake Superior Trading Post.

In Steele County, an AMERICAN AVOCET was west of the entrance to Rice
Lake State Park in the wetlands on the north side of County Road 19 on
September 15th.

New reports of southbound migrants include RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, CAPE
MAY WARBLER, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW.
