On Pickerel Lake in Lilydale this afternoon,  there were 7 Trumpeter Swans,
presumably a family group, with 2 adults and 5 young. They were feeding in
a small patch of open water right by the shore of the fishing area. (Except
for a Red-tailed Hawk on patrol, the rest of the avian community seemed to
have more sense about staying out of the cold than this pair of human
hikers.)
