This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday October 23rd, 2014.

A RED-PHALAROPE was seen briefly in Mower County on the 21st, but it has
not been refound. It was at the Brownsdale wastewater treatment plant
about a mile north of town on highway 56.

On the 19th, a CALIFORNIA GULL was at the Superior Entry of Park Point
in Duluth.

The RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD first reported from Le Sueur County on September
15th is still being seen daily. It is visiting the Nesgoda yard in the
town of Le Sueur at 30627 Pumpkin Hill Road.

A juvenile FERRUGINOUS HAWK was recorded at the Bethany Hawkwatch in
Mankato, Blue Earth County on the 20th.

As many as three TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES have been at the Ann Lake
campground at the Sherburne NWR since the 20th. From the town of Orrock,
go south on Sherburne County Road 5 for about a mile, then turn east on
the campground road and go for another mile. Park at the small parking
area on the south side of the road and walk the trail beyond the yellow
gate.

A late WHITE-FACED IBIS was reported on the 18th at the Kvernmo WMA, two
and a half miles south of Hendricks in Lincoln County.

On the 23rd, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was at Taconite Harbor in Cook
County. On the same day, a LONG-TAILED DUCK was on Lake Superior at Two
Harbors, Lake County. And a late WILLET and CATTLE EGRET were both at
the Bass Ponds area of Bloomington. I also have reports of ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWK, GOLDEN EAGLE, WINTER WREN, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, and COMMON
REDPOLL.

The next scheduled update is Thursday October 30th, 2014.
