This is the Duluth Birding Report for September 13th, 2012 sponsored by
the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The third MISSISSIPPI KITE of the season was seen by Karl Bardon and
others on the 6th at Hawk Ridge in Duluth. More than 15,000 BROAD-WINGED
HAWKS were seen at the Ridge on the 9th, as well as 11 SWAINSON'S HAWKS.
Forty SANDHILL CRANES also flew past Hawk Ridge on the 9th.

Craig Mandel and others found a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER on the 13th at
Indian Point in West Duluth. Peder Svingen saw a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE flying overhead on the 9th along the Lakewalk at 25th Avenue East.
Scott Wolff saw a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE on the 8th on Park Point at 42nd
Street.

The EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE in Grand Rapids was seen on the 10th along
Clover Lane. Bob Dunlap found a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER on the 8th at
the Moose Lake sewage ponds.

A MARSH WREN was seen at the Two Harbors cemetery on the 13th, and
Dedrick Benz saw a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER at Lighthouse Point in Two
Harbors on the 11th.
