I updated the Snowy Owl and Northern Hawk Owl map. Minnesota has 37 reported sightings of Snowy Owls and 13 reported Northern Hawk Owls.  On the Great Gray Owl map Minnesota has 9 reported Great Gray Owls reported.  Most of the Northern Hawk Owls latest sightings are coming from northeast Minnesota and northwest Minnesota.  Highway 72 from the Beltrami county line to Baudette in Lake of the Woods county has 3 Northern Hawks Owls that birders are seeing on a regular basis and there could be possibly 4 along this stretch of highway but for now I am listing only 3 Northern Hawk Owls.  The other hot spot is along Highway 53 in St. Louis County.  A Northern Hawk Owl was seen on the corner of Hwy 169 & 53 and the Hawk Owl just south of Cotton has been seen by several birders.  The Northern Hawk Owl just south of Cotton is spending time roughly 2 miles south of Cotton near the transfer station on the east side of 53 or the north going lane and
also just north of this road along the east side of 53.  It was reported that owl is hunting along side the highway and making catches in nearby trees.

The best spot for Great Gray Owls seem to be currently in northeast Minnesota in St. Louis County along the Nichols Lake Rd ( Co. Rd 232) 2-2.5 miles east of Co. Rd 7 and .5 to 1 mile east of 53 along the Melrude Road. Melrude Road is north of Cotton on the east side of Hwy. 53.  These owls have been seen several times by birders in the last week.
