This is the Duluth Birding Report for July 26th, 2012 sponsored by the
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A LARK SPARROW was found by Peder Svingen on the 21st along Waseca
Industrial Road in West Duluth near Grassy Point. Mike Hendrickson saw
eight RED CROSSBILLS on the 17th at Crescent View and 4th Street in the
Congdon neighborhood in eastern Duluth.

A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was found by Kim Eckert on the 26th on the
ball field at the Park Point Recreational Area. At least 16 shorebird
species have been seen in recent weeks along Aitkin County Road 15 west
of the town of Aitkin.

Steve Wilson found a seemingly out-of-range population of at least seven
singing GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS and several DICKCISSELS on private mining
land in north-central St. Louis County. DICKCISSELS appear to winding
down their breeding season, but they are still being seen throughout
northern Minnesota.
