This is the Duluth Birding Report for November 18th, 2011 sponsored by
the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was found by Mike Hendrickson and others on the
13th along the Croftville Road east of Grand Marais. They also saw a
first-cycle GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL and a first-cycle THAYER’S GULL in
the Grand Marais harbor, a BLACK SCOTER at Paradise Beach, and three
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS near Five Mile Rock.

THAYER'S GULLS, GLAUCOUS GULL, and GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL continue to
be seen at the Superior Entry and along Wisconsin Point. Peder Svingen
saw an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the 14th on the Minnesota side
of the Superior Entry, and a juvenile GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL at Canal
Park on the 15th. WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS and RED CROSSBILLS are being
seen migrating past Hawk Ridge on a regular basis and a BLACK-BACKED
WOODPECKER was seen on the 12th.
