While looking and finding the Snowy Owl in Dodge County this morning I found
White-winged Crossbills roughly a third of a mile north from the
intersection of 150th Avenue and 690th Street. While travelling to the
site, look for a small wind turbine which is located on the east side of
150th. I estimate there were 50 Crossbills moving back and forth between
the grove north of the wind turbine and a farm site containing two houses
located on the west side of 150th.

I just finished Doug Keiser's post on the same subjects. His estimate is
much higher. I am horrible in estimating numbers of birds - I will go along
with Doug, there were a lot of Crossbills.

I was glad to hear of his success on finding the Mower County Snowy Owl. I
spent about 45 minutes at mid-day today without success.
