Thanks to the camaraderie of birders we were able to see not one but TWO
BOREAL OWLS at Sax Zim. Northern Hawk Owl was 1 mile N of Sax Rd. on Cr 7.
Other expected but very enjoyable birds included Ruffed Grouse, Pine
Grosbeak, Northern Shrike, Gray Jay, and others. On the way back to Duluth
we had a Barred Owl. Once in Duluth Aaron Brees called saying he had a
Great Gray Owl just outside Duluth along 61 expressway. We rushed down
there and got the bird in the fading light. Beautiful day and gorgeous
birds. Thanks for all the help from the very friendly MN birding community.
