This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, September 10th, 2009
sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A SWALLOW-TAILED KITE was reported on the 6th at Lake County Road 2 and
MN Highway 1, but no other details are available. A record-early female
HARLEQUIN DUCK was reported by Bisanne Livingston on the 10th at East
Bay in Grand Marais. An early migrating adult male WHITE-WINGED SCOTER
was seen on the 10th flying southwest past Lighthouse Point in Two
Harbors. John Hockema reported LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS on the 7th at the
Castle Danger sewage lagoons. HORNED GREBES and RED-NECKED GREBES were
seen on Lake Superior at Castle Danger on the 6th.

Peder Svingen saw an unidentified JAEGER, probably a Parasitic, near the
Sky Harbor Airport on the 10th. On the 7th Peder and Cameron Rutt saw 22
warbler species on Park Point.

The annual Hawk Weekend will be held this weekend on September 11-13 at
Hawk Ridge in Duluth. Details on presentations, field trips and other
