This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday January 17th, 2013.

The BARROW'S GOLDENEYE first found on Christmas Day is still being seen
at the Superior Entry of Park Point in Duluth.

A HARLEQUIN DUCK was reported on January 4th at Lock and Dam Number 4 on
the Mississippi River and it was still there today. It's best looked for
below the dam east of Kellogg in Wabasha County.

Two SNOWY OWLS are being seen in the southwestern corner of Dodge County
in the vicinity of 700th Street and 110th Avenue. Both birds tend to
move around a bit, so also check the roads to the north and east. On the
15th, Molly Thompson reported a NORTHERN HAWK OWL outside Duluth on
Zimmerman Road near its intersection with Jean Duluth Road. Another was
seen briefly that same day in Aitkin County along state highway 210
about half a mile east of Tamarack.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is still at the Ann Lake Campground in Sherburne
County. Go south from Orrock on county road 5 for one mile, and then
turn east on the Ann Lake Campground Road. Look for the bird at the
small parking area on the south side of the road.

And a VARIED THRUSH was in southern Anoka County on the 15th, along
White Pine Road just east of its intersection with Oakwood Lane in Lino
Lakes.

On the 13th, Jake Langeslag reported a SPOTTED TOWHEE at his feeder in
Fairbault, Rice County. Please call Jake for additional information and
directions 507-210-4685.

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday January 25th, 2013.
