This is the Northwest Minnesota Birding Report for Friday, October 3,

As I compile this report, we are having snow flurries in northwest
Minnesota and the winds are howling. Not much bird activity can be seen
outside the window this morning, but migration has been active this
week.
From Otter Tail County , Alma Ronningen reported a pair of SANDHILL
CRANES and some CEDAR WAXWINGS on September 26, a BELTED KINGFISHER on
September 28, and BROWN CREEPER and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER on October 2.
Marshall Howe in Hubbard County mentioned WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW,
DARK-EYED JUNCO, and BONAPARTE'S GULL on September 25; one ROSE BREASTED
GROSBEAK on September 26, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW on September 27,
LINCOLN’S SPARROW, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, and PURPLE FINCH on September
28. Also on September 28, an late EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE was seen. On
September 30, he reported AMERICAN WOODCOCK, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, and a FOX SPARROW showed up on October 2.
Hal Sanders reported a flock of45 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS migrating
through Polk County in the wind on September 27. On October 2, Sandy
Aubol found a BROWN CREEPER , 9 sparrow species and 6 warbler species
including a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER in and around East Grand Forks. There
were 12 TURKEY VULTURES seen soaring over the East Grand Forks
campground that day.
