This is the Northwest Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, September
27, 2013 sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.
You may also hear this report by calling (218)847-5743 or

Migration continues in the northwest despite the pleasant weather. We
have lost the flycatchers for another year, the warblers are fast
disappearing, now the sparrows , AMERICAN ROBINS, and EASTERN BLUEBIRDS
are moving through. Soon there the waterfowl will come in force, just
before the cold and snow.

In Otter Tail County, Brad and Dee Ehlers reported that hummingbirds had
left by September 21 and on September 22, numerous TURKEY VULTURES could
be seen in the area.

Sandy Aubol in Polk County reported on September 24, that her yard in
East Grand Forks is being visited by 20 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, 7
HARRIS'S SPARROWS, 3 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
Warblers included COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER.

In Red Lake County this week, Shelley Steva saw SHARP-SHINNED HAWK,
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, BELTED KINGFISHER, 50 NORTHERN FLICKERS, SONG
SPARROW, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER. Two LARK SPARROWS were seen near
Brooks.

Here in Pennington County, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was in the yard on
September 22, and by September 25, many NORTHERN FLICKERS, AMERICAN
ROBINS, and a few WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were moving through.

Skyler Vold reported two SABINE'S GULLS on Lake Bemidji in Beltrami
County on September 20 along with 400 RING-BILLED GULLS.

Thanks to Brad and Dee Ehlers, Sandy Aubol, Shelley Steva, and Skyler
Vold for their reports.
