I observed an adult Great Black-backed Gull on Lake Harriet, in Minneapolis at 3:45 pm this afternoon. As soon as I set up my scope I could see that huge full bodied GBBG standing on the ice in the middle of the lake dominating over the Herring Gulls as it walked along. Such a large, beautiful black and white contrast, and the pink legs visible as it walked across the ice in full daylight.

An adult GBBG has been reported sporadically twice to the listserve on 12.1.12 on Lake Harriet, and 12.8.12 on Black Dog Lake in Dakota Co. Hopefully it will stick around so that someone can record it on their CBC count.
