Subject: [mou-net] Male Summer Tanager in Anoka County
To: <[log in to unmask]>

From 9:45- 10:00 AM today (Monday, May 10), I saw a male Summer Tanager
from a distance of 20 to 50 feet in the extreme southwest section of the
Locke Park picnic area in Anoka County, about 150 feet east of a nearby dog
park. The picnic area, which can be accessed via 171st Street NE, is
located about 1/2 mile east of University Avenue in Fridley. Upon seeing
the bird, I called Joe Beck, who happened to be birding nearby. He was able
to see the tanager at about 10:20 AM, and again in the same area about
12:15-12:20 PM. We both were able to photograph the bird independently,
with a couple of the photos clearly showing that the tanager has red wings.
