This is the Duluth Birding Report for May 28th, 2015 sponsored by the
Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Sharon Lind found a TUFTED TITMOUSE on the 25th in her yard west of Two
Harbors at 847 Scenic Drive, but it has not been relocated since the
25th. This is the first record for Lake County and one of the few
northern Minnesota records. A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen on the 26th
in Two Harbors at 10th Avenue and 4th Street. Another NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was found by Tony Mitchell on the 24th in the Duluth Port
Terminal.

Two RED KNOTS were found on the 28th by Jan and Larry Kraemer on Park
Point near the Sky Harbor Airport. They were seen with RUDDY TURNSTONES,
SANDERLINGS, DUNLIN, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. Dale Trexel and Jeff
Eddy saw two WHIMBRELS on the 22nd on the Minnesota side of the Superior
Entry. Joshua Christian saw six WHIMBRELS on the 23rd at Knife Island in
Lake County. He also saw a RUDDY DUCK on the 23rd near the Sky Harbor
Airport.

Ruth Stearns saw a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER on the 22nd on the east side of
Indian Point in west Duluth. Larry and Jan Kraemer also saw one on the
26th at Indian Point. Barb Akre saw an EASTERN TOWHEE on the 22nd along
West Kent Street near the UMD campus. Mike Furtman saw a RED-HEADED
WOODPECKER on the 22nd in the Woodland neighborhood of Duluth, and one
was seen by Jan and Larry Kraemer on the 24th at the Forest Hill
Cemetery.

Jan and Larry Kraemer saw 23 LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 22nd at the
Lakewood Pumping Station. Laura Erickson saw three LONG-TAILED DUCKS on
the 23rd at the McQuade Road boat launch. LONG-TAILED DUCKS were also
seen on the 22nd and 23rd in Cook County, but I don't have specific
locations.

Doug Kieser and others heard several YELLOW RAILS on the 23rd at the
McGregor Marsh along MN Highway 65 south of MN Highway 210 in Aitkin
County.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on June 4th.
