There is a Varied Thrush that is frequenting a feeder at 9707 35th St SW in
SW Olmsted County that is a mile south of Salem Corners and then a mile
west. The owner is Russell Turner. The bird is most always located behind
his house in a smaller tree in the back yard or at the feeders right behind
the house. It has also been spotted in the tall trees in the back yard to
the north of the house. It often hangs out with the Blue Jays.

Russ indicated it is OK for people to stop in and view the bird by walking
to the right of the house/shed. I suggest staying to the right side of the
shed and viewing from the back corner where you would be a bit further away
from the tree and feeders since the bird is very easily spooked.

If you would like to view the bird from inside the house (much better view -
and warmer), you can call Russ ahead of time at 507-273-5055 (cell) or
507-365-8170 (home) to make arrangements.
