Hi Andrew,
The new SDD detectors are so much more reliable than the old Si(Li)
detectors. We have a Bruker SDD on our SX50 and a Thermo SDD on our
Sx100 and also our FEI Quanta and we've never had a single problem.
I would highly recommend either.
