Facility, which is a campus wide user facility at Texas A&M University that
supports the research activities of the more than 87 PIs and hundreds of
students, with a focus on surface and interfacial spectroscopies and
optical, electron, ion and scanning probe microscopies.

Operate and/or supervise the operation of the electron microprobe,
including scheduling and billing for services and performing routine
maintenance, including making sure that supplies are ordered.

Instruct users in the operation and in the theory of the microprobe: o on
an individual basis, as required. o by teaching an annual workshop:
Electron Microprobe Analysis, and aid in the interpretation of the results
when requested.

Conduct research using the electron microprobe, usually in conjunction with
faculty members at TAMU, but potentially with other institutions and
industry, and co-author the results and aid in the interpretation of the
results when requested.

Instruct microprobe researchers in the use of computer software on other
platforms in order to facilitate and/or extend the interpretation of
quantitative, qualitative, and digital imaging data sets acquired on the
electron microprobe.

Develop improved procedures for the acquisition and the processing of data
from the microprobe, including: where feasible, modifying instrument
software in minor ways to improve its performance for specialized tasks;
remaining informed of new programs useful in the processing of microprobe
data, and making microprobe users aware of these programs as pertinent to
