Subject: Automation Upgrades
Reply-To: <[log in to unmask]>

There were some concerns expressed on the list server about upgrading
the automation on the newer JEOL probes. We sell an automation
upgrade package which I didn't want to talk about on the list server
so I will pass this information on to you directly and if you feel it
is useful information that is appropriate, feel free to pass it on.

<snip>

We recently looked at the 8900 and 8200 and determined that we can
attach our PC based system to these instruments. The Workstation
would still control the column function but the PC has the software
to run the stage, spectrometers and digital imaging (including mosaic
and stage rastered mapping). The application is design after the
famous Sandia TASK from the Tracor Northern days but has the modern
Windows ease-of-use. We are a service laboratory first so we use our
own system on an 8600 that is running all sorts of analyses everyday.
We are analysts that can write software.

I am enjoying the activity on the list server and hope it catches on.

Take care.
