for our upcoming congress in Miami:

The TransAtlantic Information Exchange Service (TIESweb -
http://www.tiesweb.org), based in Paris , is preparing for
a congress with a maximum of 500 representatives of the
American and European civil societies, as well as company
executives and administrative officials.

Our goal is to help connect and foster communication and
cooperation among individuals and organizations in American
and European civil societies.

The following is a summary of our Open Online Preparation
Process, designed to generate topics and themes for the
congress. We welcome your input:

There is just over one week remaining to submit your ideas
and comments for topics and discussions to be included in

The congress will be organized around the following four themes.

    In our new world order, what kinds of global governance are
    viable or desirable.

3) Global Governance & Democratic Legitimacy

    How can we avoid that globalization becomes just another
    word for imperialism?

4) What Drives Perspectives of Global Governance?

    - How are global priorities decided in agencies, institutions,
      and the media?
    - What causes US and Europe to look at global issues
      differently?

5) Rethinking Existing Institutions

    What do we like and dislike about existing International
    Institutions?

6) Innovation Lab

    Creative session intended to dream up new mechanisms of
    global governance, and keep the focus out of institutions.

7) Rethinking the Concept of "Common Goals."

    An effort to look at "uncommon" goals and how to work
    with them.

8) NGOs and Global Governance

9) Cultural and Political Barriers to Global Governance

10) International Justice
     International Criminal Court
