PRE-CONFERENCE DAYS   10 & 11 SEPTEMBER

v Call for proposals for pre-conference workshops

Workshops to be presented to target practitioner audiences.  Topics must
fall within the broad themes of the conference, but are meant to be
practice orientated and aimed at specific target groups such as local
authority officials and/or councillors, the police, health services
managers, public financial managers, etc.  The Conference Organisers will
organise these workshops, and venues will be in the vicinity of
Stellenbosch and the Cape Peninsula.

Pre-conference tours to the following destinations are planned:
- Cape Town Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
- Table Mountain
- Stellenbosch Wine Routes
- Khayelitsha Shebeen
- Robben Island
- Cape Peninsula and Cape Point


DAY 1     12 SEPTEMBER

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE:
Bringing together South African academics, politicians and civil service
practitioners with international experts in the field of public and
development management to deliberate on governance with a view to assessing
the results of the outcomes-based approach, as well as to inform the
academic community of challenges in assessing the performance of such an
approach.
