The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University
(Wichita, Kansas) invites applications and nominations for the position of
Dean.

INFORMATION
With almost 15,000 students, Wichita State University is located in the
largest city in Kansas and a growing metropolitan area of more than
500,000.  Wichita is a regional center for services (health care, banking,
government), an international corporate and manufacturing center (Boeing,
Cessna, Coleman, Koch Industries, Learjet, Raytheon, Vulcan Chemicals), and

OPPORTUNITIES
The Barton School's vision is to be a preferred source for recruiters of
high-quality business school graduates in this region.  As the largest
business school in Kansas, the Barton School is AACSB-accredited and is
composed of 61 full-time faculty, 22 full-time staff and more than 2,500
students. On a basic budget of $6.5 million and an endowment of almost $20
million, the Barton School is proud to offer more than $300,000 in yearly
scholarships including the largest academic scholarship by any university
in the state.  Ties between the Wichita business community and the Barton
School are particularly strong, providing faculty and students with
opportunities and resources that enhance teaching and learning, including
an active cooperative education experience for students.  The Barton School
offers ten undergraduate majors (BBAs), as well as five graduate degrees
including masters in business administration (MBA & EMBA), business (MS),
economics (MA) and accounting (MPA).  There are five academic and outreach
centers -- the Center for Economic Development and Business Research,
Center for Economic Education, Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for
International Business Advancement and the Center for Management

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with an academic background must possess an earned doctorate and
qualify for appointment as a tenured full professor in the Barton School.
Candidates with a business background must have an outstanding record of
achievement and a demonstrated commitment to and an understanding of higher
education.  All candidates for the Dean's position must have the following
additional qualifications:
        *       Demonstrated record of leadership in business or academia
        *       Understanding of an urban university and the special opportunity that
it provides for cultivating ties to the business community
        *       Demonstrated success in securing external support and/or leading
fund-raising activities
        *       Commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service
        *       Commitment to diversity

APPLICATIONS AND NOMINATIONS
The total compensation package is AACSB-competitive.  Interested applicants
should send curriculum vitae (or resume), letter of application, and a list
of at least three references (including addresses and telephone numbers) to
the Chair of the Search Committee.  The letter of application should
describe how the applicant meets the aforementioned selection criteria.
Nominations are encouraged.  The appointment becomes effective July 1,
