No offense :)  We forked a while ago to add things that long tail  
didn't have a the time - subclips, captioning, multiple qualities,  
h264 streaming, etc.  Internally we're building a new player, geared  
towards online lectures, which may eventually supplant the MM player,  
otherwise, my "someday, maybe" todo list has had "remerge with  
longtail" on it for.. ages.
