Hello! As the interest in social networking continues to spiral at
break-neck speeds, it seemed to make sense to develop social networking
guidelines for the University of Minnesota. For the past few months,
significant effort was focused on how to best help
colleges/departments/units use social networking tools as well deliver
curriculum while ensuring students intellectual property is protected.
Today, I am pleased to share with you the official University of Minnesota
Social Networking Guidelines, now available at:
    http://webdepot.umn.edu/social_guidelines.php

Shaping social networking standards is no small feat but individuals from
the groups below tackled the charge with professionalism, grace, and style.
Many thanks to:

    - Digital Media Center - Office of Information Technology
    - Electronic Communications - University Relations
    - Internal Communications - University Relations
    - Institute for New Media Studies - School of Journalism and Mass
Communication
    - News Service - University Relations
    - Office of Communications and Advancement - Office of Information
Technology
    - Office of General Counsel

To learn more about the social networking guidelines as well as other
electronic communications efforts underway, be sure to read the
eCommunications blog at:
    http://blog.lib.umn.edu/webdepot/ecomm/

Thank you for your interest and continued support in the University's
electronic channels.
 ~Jennie
