==========================================================
The first issue of a new interdisciplinary journal, Semiotics, Evolution,
Energy, Development is now on line.
The URL is http://www.library.utoronto.ca/see/pages/SEED_Journal.html
The journal is refereed and has an ISSN number. Instructions for
contributors are on the web page. The Journal covers Physic, Energyand
Symmetry, Biosemiotics, Cognition, Computers and Robotology, and Economic,
Management and Social Development. Articles that emphasize processes that
permit the formation of connections through non-linear processes are
preferred, but arguments that such processes are not required are also
welcome.

 From the journal blurb:

The past 50 years have seen the introduction of information as a physical
entity with a mathematical theory. In the last ten years, connections have
been developed to energy, evolution and development, as well as to signs,
representation, interpretation and the mind. Many of these developments are
controversial, such as whether information is intrinsically related to
meaning, whether there is a general semiotics that extends beyond human
signs, and whether, indeed, there is anything well-defined outside of human
theories. This journal deals with these and related issues. More
information on topics and debates can be found elsewhere on this site,
especially in the program and book from the 1997 SEE meeting Program and
announcement of next meeting at
http://www.library.utoronto.ca/see/pages/colloquia%20and%20conferences.html
and on the main SEE page:
http://www.library.utoronto.ca/see/.

The contents of the first issue are:

Volume 1, Number 1

Editorial
 John Collier
The Internal and the External Semiosic Properties of Reality
 Edwina Taborsky
Evolution in the Information Age: Rediscovering the Nature of the Organism
 Daniel R. Brooks
Studies into abstract properties of individuals. V. An empirical study of
emergence in ontogeny and phylogeny in Achnatherum nelsonii
and A. lettermanii
 Jack Maze
 Kathleen A. Robson
 Satindranath Banerjee

The editorial board includes Philosphers, Physical and Social Scientists
and Mathematicians, though many of Philosophers would claim that the work
of the journal is not Philosophy, while scientists claim the work is not
science, but philosophy. Personally, I don't think we are filling a badly
need gulf among disciplines.
