THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES (T.A.A.) PROJECT


FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS  - - -  DEADLINE MARCH 3, 2002


ALTERNATIVES TO GLOBALIZATION


This is the third and final call for papers for the TAA (There Are
Alternatives) Project. The submission deadline is March 3, 2002.


WHAT: A contest for five (5) prizes of US $100.00 each for winning essays.


GUIDELINES: Winning essays will provide detailed, first hand discussion of
one or more projects which create useful, productive resources without
reliance on international markets, financing or advice. The purpose of the
TAA Project is to identify useful means for persons and groups to create a
better life without access to global markets or despite such access.


Essays must be in English. The target audience is people who use English as
a second language. Essays should use simple language and provide detailed
instructions on how to reproduce the project in another location.


Papers of 2-3,000 words are preferred, but articles of exceptional quality
of any length will be considered.


WHEN: Essays may be submitted until March 3, 2002 at Noon Pacific (USA)
Standard Time.


HOW: Essays shall be submitted via email to the McKeever Institute of
Economic Policy Analysis (MIEPA) at: [log in to unmask]


Essays shall be submitted as a file attachment in Microsoft Word or in plain
text in the body of an email message. The MIEPA staff reserves to right to
refuse acceptance of any submission in any unsuitable format; submissions
which contain html code or any virus will be refused.


WHO: All persons are encouraged to submit descriptions of projects they
consider useful under thestated guidelines. A panel of judges will make the
determination of winners; their judgement is final and may not be appealed.


PUBLICATION: Essays including all winners and some chosen runners-up, will
be published on the MIEPA website www.mkeever.com


Additionally, the project may be published in book form. Authors of accepted
entries will be required to sign a release before acceptance of paper for
publication in the web site or in book form.


Preference will be given to previously unpublished work; however, some
previously published work may be considered and, if such work is accepted,
the author will be responsible for securing reprint permission.


SUBJECTS: Here is a non-exclusive list of subjects to serve as an
illustration of the type of projects that will be considered. Cuba's Medical
system; LETS programs; Estonia's transition; Chilean and Malaysian
experience with capital movements; Micro-credit on the Grameen bank model;
and, Mexico City's Tianguis Tlaloc. While essays on these particular
subjects will be considered for publication, other, previously unpublished
projects are preferred.
