While photographing Gulls at Black Dog Lake on Saturday, November 29, 2008 a very pale gull flew in. I thought it was either a very pale Thayer's or a Kumlien's Iceland Gull. I was thinking this bird was pale enough to be a Kumlien's Gull, but after looking at the images at home and asking Bruce Fall for his opinion it appears to be a Thayer's Gull. Regardless it was nice to be so close to this bird in good light to photograph it. http://naturepixels.com/black_dog11_08.jpg http://naturepixels.com/gull_08/black_dog11_08_2.jpg http://naturepixels.com/gull_08/black_dog11_08_6.jpg http://naturepixels.com/gull_08/black_dog11_08_7.jpg http://naturepixels.com/gull_08/black_dog11_08_8.jpg http://naturepixels.com/gull_08/black_dog11_08_9.jpg Regards, Terry Terry Brashear Hennepin County, MN http://www.naturepixels.com birdnird AT yahoo.com
