I got two new reports of owls that I added to the maps.

1. On Minnesota Birding Listserv I added Gary Kuyava's Northern Hawk Owl he discovered today at the intersection of Haines Rd and Airport Rd. This is right at the entrance to the Duluth Airport.

2. Jason Mandich who lives in Hibbing and is the person responsible for all the deer rib carcasses he hung on Admiral Rd., which by the way is attracting Boreal Chickadees. He did this last year as well. Anyway he spotted two Great Gray Owls today in the Sax-Zim Bog.

A. Great Gray Owl at the intersection of Hwy 5 and Townline Rd in St. Louis County. (10:00am)
B. Great Gray Owl on the McDavitt Rd in St. Louis County. (11:00am)

You can view of course the maps here: http://colderbythelakebirding.blogspot.com/.

I am waiting for the big snow to come and if we get as much as snow as predicted then I wonder if more owls will be found after the storm like Boreal Owls which are predicted to irrupt this winter based on banding totals this past fall season.

Good Birding
