Birders Chrissy and Terry were on the back walk -- with the homeowner's permission -- of the house on 21st Avenue South peering at the juvenile Snowy Owl on the garage when I joined them about 5:45 p.m. The owl kept an eye on us, stretching its wings and peering around. After a few minutes it flew a block west and perched at the top of a tall spruce. As the 6 o'clock hour struck it took off heading due south at treetop height.
