So far this weekend, October 8-9, the Minn Birding Weekends group saw
a few birds of note in Lyon and Lincoln Co's:
- A Cattle Egret was at Sham Lake in Cottonwood, Lyon Co. in the late
afternoon of Oct 8; unfortunately, it was not relocated later that day
or the next morning.
- A male Spotted Towhee was in a residential yard this morning,
October 9, ~1/2 mi SW of Lind, Lyon Co along CR 25; the MBW group will
be returning to this site tomorrow, and I'll be able to post more
exact directions if the bird is still present.
- At least 1 Nelson's Sparrow, possibly 2-3 individuals, was along the
W side of the road 1/4 mi N of the Lake Benton sewage ponds in Lincoln
Co today; also present here were at least 5-6 Le Conte's Sparrows.
Also noteworthy in Lincoln Co today were an early Rough-legged Hawk
and a very late Common Nighthawk.
