This morning, a White-winged Dove briefly visited my feeders near Grand
Rapids. I was able to snap a documentation photo of the bird, but
unfortunately it was a film camera because my digital was out in the car
and I couldn't get it without flushing the dove. I suspect this bird may
have been around for some time because I was away in SW Minnesota doing
MNBBA surveys and now that I have returned, there has occasionally been a
dove sitting partially-obscured in the same hanging basket feeder the dove
was at this morning that none of us paid much attention to until I noticed
the wing stripe and tail today when it was perched on the edge of the
feeder. Hopefully it decides to stay for a while--I have millet and
sunflower chips out for it.
