My report of a Carolina wren last week prompted a suggestion to tempt it
with mealworms. We put out dried mealworms, but haven't seen the wren
again. However, at least 5 bluebirds found them and have been enjoying the
worms ever since!
In addition, a red-breasted nuthatch has appeared to join numerous
white-throated and fox sparrows and a few purple finch. Goldfinch numbers
seem to have increased; there are 30-40 fluttering around the feeders all
day.
