While out today along the North Shore of Lake Superior as well as birding
in Sax-Zim Bog, a push of mid-winter specialties continues provide great
looks. The two birders I was guiding around today were thrilled to see
their lifer Boreal Owl! Hoary Redpolls and Pine Grosbeaks continue to be
seen regularly throughout most of the Sax-Zim Bog feeders, and the Admiral
Road birdfeeders have the Boreal Chickadees returning on a regular
basis. One Northern Shrike was seen in Sax-Zim Bog today by my group. Hoary
Redpolls and Pine Grosbeaks continue to be seen regularly throughout most
of the Sax-Zim Bog feeders, and the Admiral Road birdfeeders have the
Boreal Chickadees returning on a regular basis. Below are two photos, taken
earlier from today's birding trip.

For anyone driving to/from the northwoods in hopes of seeing a Boreal Owl,
drive safe. There is a beautiful snowstorm on the way, but it sounds like
roads could be iffy!

Good birding,
