Thanks goes to Jim Gay and his wife for sharing this bird with many of us
who were fortunate enough to see it Friday. My only other experience of
this species was in Theodore Roosevelt Na. Park in N. Dakota, and it was a
much more distant sightin, in the glare of mid-day. Seeing the bird at
close range, even in the rain, impressed much more, for field marks and the
qualities of its particular shade of blue. Jim's alertness and generosity
gave us a very special opportunity.
