1. Postdoc: The Department of Philosophy at the University of Calgary
is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Philosophy
of Biology. Start date is flexible: between November 1, 2013 and March
31, 2014. The fellowship is for two years. Application deadline: 5
September 2013.

2. Lecture Series: A free series of public lectures by scientists,
historians, philosophers at the Linda Hall Library of Science,
Engineering, and Technology, Kansas City, MO, summer / fall 2013. Many
of the lectures are on biological topics, including a talk on July 24
by philosopher Catherine Kendig entitled "Homology, Redux."

3. Conference: "History of Restriction Enzymes," Cold Spring Harbor
Laboratory, New York, 19-21 October 2013. This international meeting
on the history of restriction enzymes will cover research on
restriction enzymes dating back to the phage and plasmid work of the
1950s. Registration deadline: 30 September 2013.

4. New Journal: Journal of Cognition and Neuroethics. JCN is a new
twice-yearly, peer-reviewed, open access journal published online,
aimed at the promotion of scholarship across disciplines, as well as
expanding the reach and understanding of the neurosciences and
implications in the legal, social and ethical realms.
