I also viewed the Northern Hawk Owl on Sunday, January 12 at the same location in Hutchinson. I observed it diving for a mouse or vole under the snow and eating it in a nearby tree. It was quite a thrill and great to see that it is catching food.

Subject: [mou-net] McLeod cty Northern Hawk Owl

Saw the Hawk Owl yesterday while it was being banded by David Alexander and Frank Nicoletti of Duluth. They thought it was a young male. I saw the owl again today at 2pm. It's great to see this bird in McLeod cty and only a few miles from my home.
