Chet Meyers & I found the female Long-tailed duck along the west shoreline o=
f the river across from the marina in Prescott, actively feeding on shad amo=
ng hundreds of Common goldeneyes & Common mergansers. There were male & fema=
le Greater & Lesser scaup present as well as a single black duck. Scanning t=
he shoreline, we counted 97 Bald eagles in the trees and taking fish from th=
e river. There were twenty-two Trumpeter swans among the hundreds of Canada g=
eese in the area. We also saw four Mourning doves and had two Black-billed m=
agpies fly by heading south along the Minnesota side of the river. The temp=
erature was about 40 degrees warmer than a day earlier!
