I noticed that when I looked at ebird for the location of the Red Phalarope (reported by Clinton Neienhous) the map show
2 ponds north of Highway 109 (Waseca Co).
NOTE – there are 2 more ponds south of Highway 209 that do not show up on the map – unless you go to satellite view.
On Friday the Phalarope was on the southern most pond – South of Highway 109 and observed from 560th Avenue.
Herb Dingman said the ponds were frozen over. I’m wondering if he didn’t know about the ponds south of Highway 109....and they would be easy to miss.
I don’t think those other two ponds would be frozen over yet. Too much wind yesterday.
