FYI- a brightly plumaged male Varied Thrush discovered in Marine-on-the-Crox (Washington County). It is in a very accessible location for viewing. Please be courteous as to your presence in an "acclimatizing" sort of way, the cemetery a good place for quietness anyway. Find Oakland Cemetery on the west edge of town along CR4 off of Hwy 95 (on the way to William O'Brian SP), Where CR4 turns right--turn left into the cemetery. Saunter past the green outbuilding under White Pines and toward the middle and southern white fence line where there are a couple crabapple trees (suspect planted in honor of the Lloyd R. Ogren (d.1978). The Varied Thrush was first seen perching in the deciduous trees uphill along this rectangular cemetery. There is a hobby farm on the other side of the fence, but I didn't observe any feeders there or movement, save a Robin. Today it also was seen associating with some Robins flying toward town and back. (Furthermore, a Tufted Titmouse was sighted down in the hamlet of Marine). Best fortune to you and hope it winters here further. mjb
