This evening there was a female Harlequin Duck perched on the rocks
on the west side of Knife Island near the Knife River marina. This
is probably the same bird seen here on March 30 and in Two Harbors in
late February. It was very easy to miss, and I only noticed it after
hiking to the end of the marina's boat canal and scanning the island
and surrounding area for about 30 minutes.
