Found an Arctic Tern in Big Stone County today at the location where the Black-necked Stilts were recently reported (but not found today). The bird is on the west side of CR61 just south of 290th St. It has been seen flying and standing on the beach on the north side of the pond. It has a short blood red bill w/o any black on the tip, extremely short legs, a grayish breast and a mantle that is darker than typical Common or Forester's Terns. Seen by Bob Ekblad, Diane Anderson and Josh Watson. Photos taken - including several taken close up.
