Call for Abstracts: "New Directions in the Historiography of
Genetics," a special issue of Studies in Historical and Philosophy of
Biological and Biomedical Sciences, edited by Yafeng Shan, Ehud Lamm,
and Oren Harman. This special issue aims to explore and examine new
approaches in the historiography of genetics by integrating the role
of women, national and international peripheries and networks,
development, genomics, and new frontiers in the methodologies now
available to historians of biology. Deadline: 29 February 2020.

Summer School: "Dealing with Complexity in the Life Sciences," Sixth
European Advanced School in the Philosophy of the Life Sciences
(EASPLS), 7-11 September 2020, Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution
and Cognition Research (KLI) in Klosterneuburg, Austria (close to
Vienna). Young scholars (PhD students and early post-doctoral
researchers) in the history, philosophy and social studies of the
biological, biomedical, and environmental sciences are invited to

Postdoc: Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral
researcher in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at
Cornell University. The successful candidate will explore
undergraduate thinking about genetic determinism, develop and
implement several undergraduate genetics education interventions,
measure the ability of these interventions to influence belief in
genetic determinism, and work with instructors to create an updated
curriculum that honors the complexity of twenty-first century
genetics. Deadline: 15 March 2020.

Postdoc: Prof. Dan McShea (Duke University) is seeking a postdoctoral
associate for grant-funded work on questions related to directionality
and goal directedness (or teleology) in evolution and in biological
systems generally. He is looking for someone with an interest in
macroevolution, and ideally with training in the philosophy of
biology. The flexible start-date is 1 July 2020 and the appointment
will be for 1 to 1.5 years. Deadline: [none given] but the ad is
listed until 1 July 2020 and the hiring schedule can be modified for
exceptionally qualified candidates.

Job: The History of Science and Technology Program at the University
of King's College (Halifax, Canada) invites applications for a
one-year, Limited Term Appointment in History and Philosophy of
Science and/or Science and Technology Studies commencing 1 July 2020.
The appointment will be at the rank of (visiting) Assistant Professor
(full time or, at minimum, a 2/3rd appointment, with the possibility
of renewal for one more year, subject to review and budgetary
