PLEASE FORWARD TO AS MANY PEOPLE ON-LINE AS POSSIBLE!!

There is a new Restorative Justice petition on the E-the-People web site.
the petition reads:

"Prison Moratorium & Restorative Justice

"Noting that the USA currently imprisons more people per capita than any
nation in the world, and that criminal justice in the USA has become
manifestly unjust, we, the undersigned, petition the US Executive to take
leadership in calling for a nationwide moratorium on the building of new
prisons or prison cells, and asking that at the same time, government
leaders adopt more non-prison alternatives such as community-driven
Equity-Restorative Justice methods."

To sign the new CERJ petition on the E-the-People web site,

<http://www.e-thepeople.com/affiliates/national/>

You must then look the CERJ petition up -- it is called "Prison Moratorium
and Restorative Justice" and you can find it under the "crime" and "race"
categories.

Be sure to sign the petitions against California Three-Strikes and for
Patrick Swiney and Mumia Abu-Jamal while you are there.

It's easy to make a petition on E-the-People -- why not try it yourself?
Each state needs a prison moratorium petition for its own government --
this CERJ petition -- largely symbolic -- will be send to President Clinton
and Vice-President Gore.
