2. The journal
Bioscience is looking for articles of
general interest to biologists, including articles dealing with
educational, historical, conceptual, and social issues impinging on
(or affected by) work in biology. In addition, the journal has
sent out a challenge to all interested parties to nominate experiments
to be described in the BioScience Beautiful Experiment Contest.

5. The Duke Center for the Philosophy of Biology invite
applications from philosophers and biologists for its NSF sponsored
post-doctoral fellowship in the philosophy of biology for Academic
Year 2004-2005. Consideration of candidates will commence on
1 February, 2004.
