This coming week -- on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday -- MNAIDS, a coalition project between AMA, AMSA, and PHR and co-sponsored by SIHC and SNMA, will continue with AIDS awareness events by hosting a Lunch Lecture series. Below is a description of the lunch lecture topics and the times and dates: ****************************** ********* Monday, Nov. 7th: 12.15 - 1.15 PM Susan Craddock, Ph.D. Second Year Classroom, MT 2-650 Lunch Served A discussion and information session on access to essential medications, particularly focusing on the University of Minnesota-developed antiretroviral, Ziagen, in the larger context of University-private industry relationships and licensing practices, and the groups such as UAEM (Universities Allied for Essential Medicines) which have been generated to recognize and address the human rights abuses created by current licensing agreements with pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline. Professor Craddock is currently working on a project examining the implications of medical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological relationships for global patterns of disease and geopolitics. *************************************** Tuesday, Nov 8th: 12.15 - 1.15 PM Patrick Scully Second Year Classroom, MT 2-650 Lunch Served Patrick Scully is a local performance artist who has been HIV+ for the past 20 years. *************************************** Thursday, Nov 10th: 12.15 - 1.15 PM Alan Lifson, MD/MPH Second Year Classroom, MT 2-650 Lunch Served Dr. Alan Lifson is a professor in the School of Public Health whose research interests focus on HIV/AIDS and international health.
