As mentioned at yesterday's PHR meeting, below are a few international health events/resources that might interest you: November 14, 2005, 12:15-2:00 p.m., 2-650 Moos Tower Special guest speaker: Steven Miles, M.D., Professor, Center for Bioethics and Medicine and Geriatrics, will talk about "Global Health and the Frightened Empire." Dan Miller, MS4, will present information regarding his year-long medical experiences in Mexico, India and Tanzania. Jointly sponsored by the IMER Office, UofM Office of International Programs (www.international.umn.edu/ <http://www.international.umn.edu/>) and the U.= S. Departments of State and Education. Unfortunately, the other event I mentioned through the Tropical & Travel Medicine Seminar Series, "Pathways to International Health", has already occurred. However, to learn more about their future events, visit http://www.tropical.umn.edu/index.htm. And one last item: for those interested in cooking at Agape Dos, which provides permanent and affordable housing for low-income persons who have also been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, Dan Fulton will be volunteering there on Friday, Nov. 18, and is willing to take up to two people with him. If you're interested, e-mail him at [log in to unmask] If you can't make that date but are still interested in volunteering with AIDS projects, we still have slots open to deliver meals to HIV/AIDS patients. Available dates will come out next week. Delivery times are between 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. (approximately -- depends on whether the drivers need to attend orientation or not -- typically the delivery doesn't take that long). While you'd have to miss most of our morning classes that day, you'd definitely be back in time for afternoon classes. Thanks again!
