Call for abstracts and papers: 24th Regional Conference on the History and Philosophy of Science: "Experiment,"  to be held at the University of Colorado at Boulder, October 10-12, 2008.  Preference will be given to papers dealing with experimentation; however, submissions in any area of the history or philosophy of science will be considered.  Deadline for submission: August 15th, 2008.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20080616-1.pdf

2. Edouard Machery is conducting a web-based survey on philosophers' and scientists' judgments about intentionality in the context of scientific research.  He seeks participation from scholars and graduate students in the philosophy of biology, the history of biology, the social studies of science or related disciplines.  Responses are desired by the end of June, 2008http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20080616-2.html

3. The University of Minnesota press announces BÍOS: Biopolitics and Philosophy, by Roberto Esposito; translated and with an Introduction by Timothy Campbell.  The book builds on two decades of Esposito's thought, including his thesis that the modern individual is an attempt to attain immunity from the contagion of the extraindividual, namely, the community.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20080616-3.html

4. Call for papers: In 2009, the Spanish philosophy journal teorema will publish a special issue to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the initial publication of On the Origin of Species and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth. teorema welcomes submissions of original papers dealing with historical, epistemological, methodological, sociological, ethical, and other aspects of Darwin's work and Darwinism. Book reviews and critical notices of recent relevant publications are also welcome.  Deadline for submissions: February 1, 2009.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20080616-4.html

5. An  editor is needed to direct the writing of a book depicting the parallel development of the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) and the science of biology with special emphasis on biology education.  The NABT would like this published by Fall 2013http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20080616-5.html
