1. The American Philosophical Society announces a new book, Descended from Darwin: Insights into the History of Evolutionary Studies, 1900-1970, Joe Cain and Michael Ruse (eds.).  This volume has its origins in a conference, held 22-23 October 2004 at the American Philosophical Society Library, Philadelphia. The main focus was on evolutionary studies in America before, during, and after the famous "evolutionary synthesis" of the 1930s  and 1940s.  Papers in this volume are freely available for download.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20090405-1.html

2. CFP: The Geitonas School announces a Darwin 2009 conference, "Teaching Evolution: Theoretical and Pedagogical Issues," 7-8 November 2009.  Experts in the history of science, philosophy of science, and science education as well as teachers are invited to participate.  Papers that focus on theoretical or pedagogical issues related to the teaching of evolution are welcome.  Deadline for extended summaries: June 20, 2009.  http://www.ishpssb.org/listserv/20090405-2.pdf

4. Indiana University Press is pleased to announce the recent publication
of Owen's Ape and Darwin's Bulldog: Beyond Darwinism and Creationism by Christopher E.
