Well-Being Wednesday

Ask: Mention a change you have noticed, then ask if they are okay. Do not hesitate to ask twice.
Listen: Give them your full attention without interrupting. Silence is often awkward but embrace it. You can ask follow up questions to show you are listening.
Encourage Change: Suggest healthy actions and encourage them to talk to others and/or professionals.
Check-up: Plan an activity and a follow-up. If you can’t meet, then take time to call.
Many celebrities have shared their experiences with seeking treatment for mental health conditions.
Likewise, many athletes have recently been vocal about their own and others' mental health. Listen to Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett on ending the stigma around seeking help when you’re struggling.

The US Men’s Soccer (football) team opens up World Cup play on the 21st. WBI will be holding a viewing party with food in Room 35 at Mondale! Join us!

WBI, Sport Law Association, and Carlson’s Sports Business Club will be holding a mixer/potluck to watch the round of 16 for the World Cup!

NAMI Connections Group for Law Students
The NAMI Connections group offers peer-led support for law students living with mental health disorders who attend any Minnesota law school (UMN Law, St. Thomas, Mitchell Hamline).
NAMI Connection is a recovery support group for adults with a mental illness regardless of their diagnosis. (Aka… you don’t need an official diagnosis to join us). This group is offered free of charge and is led by trained individuals who are also in recovery – people who understand the challenges folks with mental illness face.
Who: Law students living with mental illness (No diagnosis required)
What: Peer-led support group!
When: 2nd & 4th Mondays of each month; 4:30-6:00pm

"Character and Fitness" Wellness Group
A student-run, safe, strictly confidential, judgment-free, casual support group welcomes anyone struggling with substance use or who is in recovery.
Who: University of Minnesota law students struggling with substance use or who are in recovery
What: Student-run, peer support group
When: Held every Friday at 12:30

Who: Ms. Kifaya Bishop, Multicultural Counselor from Student Counseling Services

LCL offers free counseling through Sand Creek for any issue that causes stress or distress.
